Signs That You May Need a New Roof or Repairs

There are signs that you can look for that will indicate that you may have a problem with your roof whether it is leaking or damaged. Sometimes signs can be very noticeable but you may look at your roof and think there are no problems; but without regular maintenance checks and knowing what to look for, there could be a problem and you just do not see it yet. It could start off as a small issue that you do not notice and can in turn become a major problem. 

Here are some things you can look out for that could in the long run save you a big problem with more costs than you would like.

  1. shingle roof There is a crack in the roof
  2. Shingles appear curled, out of place or missing
  3. The roof has dark stains, an algae growing or even mold or moss
  4. The roof is missing granules
  5. The roof is older than 20 years
  6. Shingles are rotting
  7. Ceiling is sagging
  8. shingle missingA buckle in the shingles (meaning it was improperly installed or no ventilation) 
  9. Hail damage, denting
  10. Obvious aging, discoloration
  11. Damaged flashing

If you can see any of these things just starring at your roof, it is time to contact a roofing contractor. If you are unsure just starring from the ground, then you should get a ladder and take a closer look or you could also contact local roofing contractors to take a look. Just checking your roof closely and regularly can save you from having major issues and higher costs.
